Four new partners and eight new associate partners in First Actuarial’s latest promotions

First Actuarial, a Gallagher Company, has promoted four of its outstanding professionals to partner. They are Marcos Abreu, Andrew Allsopp, Carl Fletcher and Scott Harrison.

At the same time, the firm has promoted eight more of its outstanding professionals to associate partner. The new associate partners are Emily Brown, Michael Davies, Mark Frost, Claire Fuller, Robert Hurst, Marcus Johansson, Stephen Kilgannon and Rob Skelton.

David Joy, Managing Partner, says: “Our four new partners embody what makes First Actuarial special – the client-first approach that drives our growth. Equally, with the eight new associate partners, we’re recognising individuals who’ve delivered exceptional achievements for First Actuarial during their time here.”

Nationwide promotions

The new partners and associate partners come from a range of locations across the country. Many have provided solid leadership in their local office as well as making valuable contributions to the wider business.

David Joy says: “At our newest location, Birmingham, entrepreneurial qualities are particularly important to increase our West Midlands client base and staff headcount. Andrew Allsopp, as partner, and Mark Frost, as associate partner, are a great team, each with the local reputation and track record needed for success. They recently moved their operations into Gallagher’s Birmingham office, which will give them the capacity for long-term expansion.”

First Actuarial’s four new partners

Andrew Allsopp

Andrew Allsopp joined First Actuarial two years ago and has channelled his entrepreneurial strengths into establishing the firm’s flourishing Birmingham office. He was previously an owner of Quattro, a Midlands-based pensions consultancy, which was acquired by Broadstone.

Andrew says: “Building the Birmingham base of First Actuarial has been a rewarding challenge. We’re attracting more and more professionals to deliver what local clients want – caring services from people who understand the setting in which they work. Our headcount is increasing steadily as we grow our West Midlands client base.”

Marcos Abreu

Marcos Abreu joined First Actuarial in 2019, and is central to the management and growth of the firm’s Tonbridge office. With 12 Scheme Actuary appointments, Marcos also plays an active role in the wider business. Alongside his Scheme Actuary responsibilities and the demands of a young family, he leads the London team and contributes to a range of firm-wide and industry initiatives.

Marcos says: “My career has thrived here because I’ve been given the freedom to make a real difference to the company’s success. I work closely with other people, and I set great store on giving tangible opportunities to colleagues and supporting future leaders in Tonbridge. I’ve always felt well supported by the partners in Tonbridge. The firm trusts me to get things done, while offering a sounding board when I need it.”

Carl Fletcher

Carl Fletcher is an actuary with an entrepreneurial spirit and a wide range of responsibilities. Along with Scheme Actuary appointments, Carl is Head of Benefit Corrections and Data Audit Services and is also responsible for employee share scheme valuations.

Carl says: “First Actuarial has given me the ideal environment for finding business opportunities and developing them. It’s a great place to work, and what we do is interesting. The firm has given me the freedom to develop new areas and they’ve recognised my achievements.”

Scott Harrison

Scott Harrison is an actuary who has spent 17 years working for First Actuarial. Hard-working and reliable, he prides himself on getting things done, finding problems and correcting them proactively.

Scott says: “Achieving partnership gave me a real sense of satisfaction and achievement. I’ve seen First Actuarial grow as a company since my summer internship in 2007 to what it is now, and I work with people I’ve known and respected for a long time. Associate partnership was an invaluable opportunity, giving me more influence when helping to develop colleagues in a positive way to improve the firm.”
