First Actuarial opens Birmingham office – its seventh in the UK

First Actuarial is opening its seventh office amid ongoing growth and demand for its pensions and employee benefits services.

First Actuarial’s Birmingham office, which will open in April 2025, is to be headed up by Andrew Allsopp and Mark Frost, former directors of Midlands-based Quattro Pensions.

David Joy, Managing Partner of First Actuarial, says, “Last year, our revenue grew by 15% and this year we’re firmly on track to exceed that. To build on this growth, while sustaining our client-first approach to service delivery, we’re expanding into new locations. As one of the UK’s major business hubs, offering a large pool of impressive finance professionals, Birmingham is the obvious choice.”

The office is situated on Colmore Row, close to Birmingham’s main train and tram stations. It boasts excellent communal facilities and meeting rooms, and will provide a central base for nearby client visits and networking activities.

Andrew Allsopp, Associate Partner, says: “The Birmingham office brings us closer to many of our valued clients in the West Midlands. Birmingham’s business district is a thriving and beautiful area of the city, and we’re looking forward to being a part of it.”

Mark Frost, Senior Actuary, adds: “It’s great to be joining a firm that has grown on the basis of its solid reputation for treating both staff and clients fairly. I’m looking forward to building up First Actuarial’s presence in Birmingham.”

Throughout its 20-year history, First Actuarial has enjoyed stellar growth. It started out as a consultancy delivering actuarial, administration and investment services for pension schemes. And over time, it has expanded into broader employer benefits, including financial wellbeing, Defined Contribution arrangements, and group protection employee benefits such as life assurance, income protection and critical health cover.

David concludes: “Our choice of Birmingham as an office location confirms our belief in the West Midlands as an important business centre. First Actuarial has grown exponentially over two decades, and we believe there is still a huge market for a firm like ours with a strong client-first service ethic. We’re keen to hear from like-minded professionals who want to be a part of our success story”

First Actuarial is actively recruiting for pensions professionals to develop its actuarial, administration and investment services. The firm offers career opportunities in these areas from graduate trainee to senior professional levels.
